Flexibility in Plastics
Today, I wanna show off 2 products that I have found in the wild that perfectly utilises the flexibility in plastics in order to reduce parts.
Plastics spring in Vitamin Cap.
A rubber heat mat that could expand.
As the pill bottle is already made of plastics, to have more of the parts to be made of the same material dramatically reduces the cost of production. Though the spring would be quite hard to manufacture.
The rubber mat works just as fine without being able to expand, as a lot of mat works just fine as the size. However, having it to be able to expand increases the stability of whatever is placed on top, and increases the storability of it. Though, it was hard to expand with one hand, again, it works fine without expansion.
